Update 4/12/2011: The Paperless Document Organization Guide is now live! Check it out.
This is the first announcement about an all-new project I’ll be unveiling to the world in March. The project (unless I come up with a better name) is called the Paperless Document Organizer, and it will be laser-focused on the number one question I get here at DocumentSnap: “how do I organize my files once I scan them?”.
This quote from DocumentSnap reader John Yaeger says it best:
“Going paperless sounds great but I don’t want to trade one physical paper mess for a digital mess.”
It’s been fun to work with DocumentSnap readers and help them get their electronic documents sorted out. With the Organizer launch in March, we’ll do this on a much broader basis with a lot more depth than just quick emails back and forth.
I don’t want to hype this project too much yet—we still have a month to go—but since you’re reading DocumentSnap, I wanted you to be aware of it. If you’re especially eager, you might want to sign up for my paperless tips newsletter as I usually give readers a heads-up on things there first (I first mentioned this project a few weeks ago on the list).
I encourage you to think ahead – even if you don’t care about the Organizer – how easy is it to find the document that you need right now? What could be done better?
Think about that question, and we’ll be looking at it more before the launch of this project in March.
Very Easy, Two-Question Document Organization Survey
One of the most enlightening and helpful things that I have done is get input from our community. If you’re interested in having your documents organized and would like to help me create the Paperless Document Organizer, I have a very easy, two-question survey. You can answer the survey below:
Thanks so much for reading. I’m off to head downtown on a very rare sunny February day in Vancouver.
