Hi Brooks, Thanks for this post. I am aware of this method since the early version of itunes (I think since version 10 or something). But the issue I face is that unless you have only a limited no. of PDF files that you wanted to organize/read on the ipad, this method quickly becomes cumbersome when you have a large collection….I have not tried this with the latest itunes so things might have been different now.

Very interesting Katherine, and I totally agree re: the organization. It is nice that you can do it, but I don't see why it has to be done on the iPad.

Thanks Brooks! I thought I was the only person who used iTunes for my PDFs. I especially like it for online course material. I'll put all my PDF's, audio and video into iTunes and sync it to my iPad for viewing on the go. The one "tip" I'd share is that it's far easier to organize video from a course if you classify it as a "Podcast" and then enter the name of the course/instructor in the files within iTunes. That way it appears already grouped when it shows up on the iPad. If it stays as a movie, e.g., everything is stored "flat" on the iPad and makes it difficult to find. Sure wish Apple would set things up so organization for "books" in collections can be done within iTunes instead of on the iPad itself. The process is very slow and clunky.
