Yes, I realize that I wrote about ScanDrop scanning to Gmai just a few weeks ago. This is a perfect example of my incredible ability to write something just before the subject I am writing about makes some big announcement.
If you’re not familiar with ScanDrop, it is a document scanning app put out by the folks at OfficeDrop. I wrote about their Mac scanning application back in April.
ScanDrop for Windows has always been free, but for the Mac it was $9.99. Now, following their trend towards going freemium, OfficeDrop has released the free ScanDrop Lite, as well as updates to the full version of ScanDrop For Mac.
ScanDrop Lite
ScanDrop Lite for Mac is free and can do most of the things that the full version can, but if you are using a cloud service like Dropbox, Evernote, Google Docs, etc., it limits you to 15 pages per month.
15 pages is not a huge amount, but at least this way you can try out ScanDrop and see if you like it before you drop the cash. Also, if you are a very casual user, 15 pages might even be enough for you.
If you are uploading documents to their OfficeDrop cloud document management service, you get unlimited uploads. Makes sense, it would be pretty wacky of them to limit uploads to their own service.
ScanDrop For Mac
The full version of ScanDrop for Mac is still $9.99. You probably will not be surprised to know that the full version offers unlimited uploads to all the cloud services, but they’ve also added a document splitting feature too.
Updates For Both
They’ve added some more functionality too (such as some document editing stuff), that you can read about on their blog.
Normally I would do a walkthrough of the new functionality, but as you may have read, I am slightly computerless at the moment. So, here are some screenshots of ScanDrop Lite that OfficeDrop have provided to help me out:
So, if you are a Mac user and have been wanting to try out ScanDrop but didn’t want to pay $9.99 to check it out, it may be worth picking up ScanDrop Lite and seeing how you like it.
