It’s back to school time (at least in North America), and you know what that means: lots and lots of paper coming your way.
Whether its documents from the school or our little angels’ artwork, it’s enough to stress any paperless system.
Here’s a few things you can do to help cope:
- Make sure the stuff your kids bring home makes its way into your system (whatever it is) immediately. Don’t leave it piling up on the kitchen counter. If you have an inbox/processing/triage place, it goes straight there.
- Let’s be honest, not every piece of art your little one brings home is worth keeping, but you don’t want to upset them either. What’s the middle ground? Try some of these:
- Send as much of it as possible to relatives, assuming they’d be receptive of course. As much as you might think “Argh another rainbow”, Grandma might be thrilled.
- Put some string up in a playroom or other area and use clothespins to “display” the art that your child chooses. Then when its time to add a new piece, the child can choose which one to take down and then it can be scanned or sent to a relative
- Keep a box of the special ones they make and then at the end of the school year, have your fild decide on a few to keep
- Scan everything and show your kids on the computer screen. They’ll probably think its cool
These are a few ideas for what to do with the school-generated paper. I’m sure you have more.. leave your suggestions in the comments!
