Ask DocumentSnap: Dealing With Slippery Receipts

Question BlockAwesome DocumentSnap reader Jody asked the following question:

Hi, I have been scanning my business and personal docs for years using a Xerox Documate 252; love it! Only problem is receipts on that slick paper jam the machine, so I have to tape them to a piece of paper. Was hoping I could find a clear sleeve to insert the receipt, scan it, then toss the receipt and reuse the sleeve. Have you found such a thing?

This is a great question and one that I suspect quite a few people run into.

I told Jody that I know the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 comes with a carrier sheet, and that you can buy a 5-Pack of ScanSnap carrier sheets separately.

The question was, would the ScanSnap sheets work with her Xerox?

She decided to take a risk and ordered them, and they worked very well. So, if your scanner is having trouble picking up certain types of paper, it may be worth your while to track down a carrier sheet. It worked for Jody.

[…] Another tip I would add is if you are working with delicate or weird-shaped pages, a carrier sheet can be really helpful. The larger ScanSnaps like the ScanSnap S1500 come with them, but you can buy them on Amazon. A reader found that they can also work with non-ScanSnaps too. […]

Or, just take a photo of them. I don't scan receipts anymore – a picture is just as good!

    Great point ktubbs, that's what I do too usually. <p style=”color: #A0A0A8;”>

Will those carrier sheets also work in my ScanSnap S1300? On Amazon:

it doesn't list that model.

Some of the reviews reference the S1300 so I would say yes, it should work (though I haven't tried it myself).
