p.s. I don’t know why but I didn’t have to use Doug’s mad coding skilz to get the updates to install. hmmm. Well, I’m just glad it seems to have worked.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I’m a single mom on a budget and took a chance buying an open-box Fujistsu S1500M for Mac on ebay. The seller didn’t have a Mac so sold it “as is” since he couldn’t test it. Came with all the CDs and manuals and cords, but he didn’t know for sure if it worked. He had tons of positive feedback going back years so I decided to chance it. I paid $230 for a brand new Scansnap for my business. I very much needed this to grow my business and so hoped it would work. Got it and everything seemed ok them when I tried to Save the scan into a folder, the frick-fracking application quit every time. I just about cried at the thought I’d wasted $230 (even though I knew that was a steal IF it worked.)

I googled around and found THIS site and thread and installed the patches and VOILA! :)

I am so grateful, thanks a million times!!

Thank you for the kind words. Maybe a legend in my own mind, but I seriously doubt I'm a legend! :)

I've come up with even a quicker way to do the patching of V3.0 L20W to install it. I wrote a dmg installer patch which will directly patch the image file instead of having to go through all those steps.

Information on downloading it can be found here:

OK so I just downloaded FR4SS.mpkg from the link I posed above, installed and configured, and at least the scan to searchable PDF and scan to word doc (.RTF) work just fine.

Thanks to all who posted their tips/suggestions!

By the way, I got the 10.6.x compatible installer from here:

<a href="http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fcpa/scanners/drivers/ScanSnap_V30L20W_S1500M.dmg" target="_blank">http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fcpa/scanne...</a>

On the same page (link below), there is a link to download FIneReader, which I'm doing right now.

<a href="http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/peripherals/scanners/support/sl_download.html" target="_blank">http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/peri...</a>

I have a fi-5110EOX and using Doug Smith's instructions above to disable the "existing install" code causing the installer to quit managed to easily install into OSX 10.6.2 and standard scanning works just fine. Will try OCR, etc., later. Cheers Doug.

I managed the update ok and right afterwards I could scan fine, then subsequently the old flashing blue light came up on the machine when I pressed the "one touch" button on my 510m - no scan happening - same as before the Snow Leopard upgrade - any thoughts please
