As much of a paperless geek that I am, I normally wouldn’t sit and watch a video of someone scanning and shredding paper.
However, I just wanted to point you to this YouTube video by user allenday. He’s got a really cool setup of a ScanSnap S300M, Adobe Acrobat, a Mac Mini, a wall-mounted Sharp Aquos, the Royal PX1000MX to shred, and uploads everything to Evernote.
To do the OCRing, he uses the Acrobat OCR Applescript Droplet that I hacked/posted about earlier.
Very cool setup, thanks for sharing allenday! Do any of you have a cool paperless setup? Feel free to share pics or videos in the comments.
Need Some Help Going Paperless?
How about three ways to help unclutter and de-stress by turning piles of paper into an organized electronic system?

That was way cool. The truly paperless home environment I've seen. I'm just getting ready to jump into this world (got a lot of paper to shred), and am wondering whether to go for a 300M and Neatworks, or get the 1300 universal. Whichever, peace shall come to my home. Thanx
Real cute, but what if his computer crashes, or hd problem, or software problem? Never happens, right? Doesn't look too smart to destroy the doc before you see if it is stored.
Am I missing something?
And what kind of scanner is that?
His technique is a real time waster. Rather than take each piece of paper/mail through the entire process separately – from open mail to shred, Do one step at a time to every piece of paper. I.E. Open mail (times n), scan everything, process everything, then shred everything at one time.
P.S. I do not shred until I have a backup.
