The Papervore Is Hungry

Sure you could go to Costco and buy an ugly and loud office shredder for a tenth of the price, but where is the fun in that?

You need a shredder, you need a table, so the most logical thing in the world is to combine the two right?

OK, not all of us are going to drop $1250 for a shredding table, but isn’t it nice to know that you live in a world where we could?

Here’s a cute video of the Papervore in action.

The Papervore (I just like typing that in case you can’t tell) is 31″ x 16″ x 16″ and is made of a piece of powdercoated bent aluminum with a mahogany and oak shelf, and the acrylic box in the middle is of course removable. They’ll do custom colors too.

Yes, you need to hand-crank it to shred the paper, just like our grandfathers who had to walk uphill 20 miles through the snow.

This truly epic coffee table is made by Pigeontail Design and is $1250 at Voos Furniture.

Cool Paperless Setup Video

As much of a paperless geek that I am, I normally wouldn’t sit and watch a video of someone scanning and shredding paper.

However, I just wanted to point you to this YouTube video by user allenday. He’s got a really cool setup of a ScanSnap S300M, Adobe Acrobat, a Mac Mini, a wall-mounted Sharp Aquos, the Royal PX1000MX to shred, and uploads everything to Evernote.

To do the OCRing, he uses the Acrobat OCR Applescript Droplet that I hacked/posted about earlier.

Getting Nagged and Throwing Away Old Journals

Just thought I’d post about something a little different today. One blog I really like (no surprise) is Unclutterer.com. There is a great range of posts on a lot of different topics.

A few recently caught my eye:

Could your productivity benefit from a professional nagger? talks about one situation where nagging is a good thing: when a pro does it! We all know how bad procrastination can be, and we all do it. What if you could have a neutral third party step in and give you the push we all need from time to time.

I honestly can’t say I have ever heard of nagger as a profession (though I can think of a few people that would excel at it…).

Ask Unclutterer: What should I do with old journals? polls the crowd about that old stack of journals or diaries that is taking up space in a box or at the back of your closet. Keep or trash?

Both are interesting posts that I had never thought too much about before. How about you? Would you ever hire a professional nagger? Do you hang on to your old journals or did you have a diary-burning party? Let us know in the comments.
